Transhumanism is the belief that humans can be enhanced mentally and physically through the use of gene editing and other technologies. Dr. Cote's UConn Philosophy class considered and debated the matter and wrestled with challenging questions, such as to what extent humans should engage in genetic modification and genetic engineering. How and to what extent should governments regulate transhumanist endeavors and gene-editing technology? Should wealth be a factor in accessing enhancement and curative technologies? UConn Professor of Philosophy Mitchell Green attended the debate and commended our students for their engagement in the dialogue.
